lyrics

I always found it funny you take your coffee with so much cream
You're the only person that I know who's not afraid of anything
You say you'd been in Boston, but you finally had enough
I said, these days, I don't get out of town here all that much

Then you looked at me and smiled the way you used
I couldn't help but let you know how much I missed you

Next thing I know, we're driving down the road
The snow is everywhere and I don't know where we're going
When you joke about us driving straight out west
There's a part of me that just wants to say yes... let's go

You took me up the coast a ways to a place just off Route 1
Near the beaches where your family used to summer when you were young
It was totally deserted, we threw snowballs at the surf
And laughed about when times were so much worse

I said, "things they never work out like we plan."
You said, "It's been that way since when the world began."

The snow was everywhere. The sky was looking bleak.
So we went back to our room and we fell asleep

Sitting there, with your coffee full of cream
You told me all about the things that had happened in your dreams
As breakfast came and went, I was hoping you might say
That this could be the time that you might stay

But then you looked at me and smiled the way you used to
I couldn't help but let you know how much I love you

Next thing I know, you're driving me back home
The snow is melting now and there's salt all on the road
When you joked about us driving straight out west
There's a part of me that wanted to say yes
There's a part of me that wishes I'd said yes... let's go

let's go
